It definitely sounds bigger, and like they really went for it this time. A song like the last goodbye was a big gamble, imo, and mosshart's vocals give it a dusty quality that the song really needed to succeed.
Things are bubbling underneath the surface of every song, and i'm looking forward to giving it more listens.nail in my coffin through pots and pans is a rip of solid tracks. I'd say that about the whole thing if not for heart is a beating drum.
It starts off just fine, but the chorus has too much of a nursery-rhyme melody that kind of reminds me of cheap and cheerful in a bad way. But other than that, this album is slaying me and i can't wait to see them in may. Surf City - Kudos (Fall 2010)these guys a few weeks ago, was thoroughly impressed. For fans of reverby pop, one chord into infinity, 90's.major disappointment, this. Pains of Being Pure at Heart - BelongI was majorly disappointed as well, I loved their first album!
I know that pop bands like this usually fizzle out after one album, but it still sucks given that they nailed the fuzzy MBV pop thing so well. Not only are the new songs not as good, and really simplistic, but his singing is HORRIBLE.
Sounds like he's plugging his nose the whole time.
