This is a different story where a computer crashed and you try to re-install on a new pc or a new harddrive, while the license allready had been activated twice. This would be a third time activation wich is NOT allowed.It seems America(India) is not as accommodating as the European support apparently.I had this situation twice and explained what happend en they reset the counter for me without hesitation so I could install the creative suite again. I don't know why it would be different depending on which country you're in.As I understand the OP had a software issue so that things might just got wiped out rather than deactivated.I also have a personal take on this - I have so much software that if everybody started to practice the deactivation I'd simply go crazy. The systems sometimes need complete restart because of new hardware or other reasons, this already takes so much time and effort that I'd simply skip all the uninstallation/deactivation steps.

If you don't deactivate before uninstalling or whatever, the computer is still seen as activated. If you allready have 2 installs activated, you can't install a third time.

That's why you need to call Adobe and have them reset the counter.That's why Adobe advices to deactivate the license before you uninstall. But when a pc crashes, you can't do that and is still activated!

I deactivated CS6 on the old machine and had no problem whatsoever activating it on the new machine with OSX 10.12.5 on it. So I would say that if someone is having problems activating CS6 on versions of OSX newer than 10.7 it is unlikely that it has anything to do with the OSX version. I deactivated CS6 before reinstalling Win 10.
