Hey everyone,I'm having the devil of a time installing the VS trial version (team package) on my xp pro machine. I've been fiddling with it for the last 2 days and can't get the DVD to even recognize the UDF portion of the disc at all, which is where all the installation files are. I've tried extracting it with ISOBuster, which fails almost 1/3 of the way through. I've tried ripping it to an image with Nero and fails at 69%. And those are the only two programs that I have that will even recognize that there is a UDF partition on there.

Explorer is clueless to its presence.Could anyone help me? I would sooooo greatly appreciate.Thanks,Tim. I've noticed that others have had the same issues, but all of the advice I've found so far is geared toward the downloaded DVD images and not the actually physically installation DVD itself. (That's why I tried ripping it to an image file, because, theoretically, if I created and imaged file, then I could try what everyone else was doing. But it didn't rip. So, that's a moot point.)The message I get is:This disc contains a 'UDF' file system and requires an operating systemthat supports the ISO-13346 'UDF' file system specification.Thanks,Tim. Although the workaround in my previous post works, it did not make sense that this problem would occur in some m/cs and not all ( I found that these DVDs can be seen on other m/cs running Windows XP home or Windows 2003 (all support the same UDF version)So I did some more research and found this KB articleI checked my m/c and found registry entry for UpperFilters (for InCd).

After deleting the entry and rebooting, the contents of the DVDs became visible.Hope this fixes the problem for everyone. Heads up, this link is broken:(the one provided by debu2)so I don't know what it was about. This will sound strange, but it worked for me with a VS 2008 media that has UDF format on Windows XP Pro:I downloaded the old Adaptec UDF Reader, Direct CD, from HP:It's not for WXP, but I disregarded that. After installation, it comes up as 'disabled driver because it causes instability' BUT for whatever reason, now I can read the media!!! I'm as shocked as anyone. The only annoyance is that now every time I boot, it complains about the disabled driver. I have contacted both HP and Roxio and asked them to provide an update to the Direct CD software.

Don't know if it will ever happen. MS Help and Support thinks I should ask Roxio for it (but their update is for Roxio 5, not Adaptec Direct CD), HP says they no longer support that download. Rock and a hard place.for the record, I have an HP 940d drive, and have never been able to update the firmware. I can' t find a firmware update for it.
